ARSENAL TRANSFER NEWS LIVE - Follow all the latest updates coming out of the Emirates Stadium
14:20: Alexis Sanchez could still sign a new deal at Arsenal, according to Arsene Wenger.
The Chile international now has less than 12 months left on his deal, with his future clouded in uncertainty.
On whether Sanchez will be signing a new contract, Wenger said: "All is possible you know.
"When a player goes into the final year of their contract we will try to extend the contract because there is no reason we shouldn’t do it.
13:30: Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez has revealed he spoke to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger about bringing Lucas Perez to St James' Park.
When asked if Newcastle were going to sign Perez, Benitez told BT Sport: “I was talking with Arsene yesterday, because we had the managers meeting.
“I said: ‘Listen, we have to talk.’
“And he said: ‘Do you have some money?’
“Obviously, we like good players, but it’s too soon to talk about that.”
12:00: Arsene Wenger tried to slip through news of Alexis Sanchez’s injury at his press conference this morning.
Sanchez will not face Leicester after suffering an ‘abdominal strain’, something Wenger was keen to gloss over.
Wenger was alluding to the fact his close relationship with Paris Saint-Germain chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi had no baring on the player's future.
08:55: Southampton would rather leave Virgil van Dijk to rot in the stands than sell their want-away captain to Liverpool.
Van Dijk has put in a transfer request to force through his dream move to Anfield having been made to train alone after telling Saints boss Mauricio Pellegrino he wants to leave.
But the club are still fuming with Liverpool for tapping up their skipper and are determined not to do business with the Merseysiders even if it means missing out on a £60m pay-day.
A club insider said: “We do not want to sell Virgil to Liverpool and will happily let him sit in the stands all season if we have to.
“Most of the fans would back the club in this after everything that has gone on.”
Alexis Sanchez will leave Arsenal before the transfer window ends, according to pundit Danny Mills.
Sanchez is out of contract at the end of the upcoming season and has been linked with moves to Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.
Mills believe Sanchez wants to quit the Gunners and says having a player with that mindset is not good for a football club.
"I think Arsenal might struggle this season, that is in the caveat that I believe Sanchez will go," Mills said on Sky Sports News.
"He clearly wants to leave, he only wants a year left. Do you keep a really unhappy player?”
04:30: Arsenal will only challenge for the Premier League title if they keep hold of Alexis Sanchez, according to Ian Wright.
Alexis Sanchez is entering the final year of his contract and no new deal is on the horizon.
Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City have both been linked with moves for the Chilean.
But Wright believes it would be a shame if Sanchez leaves the Emirates this summer, as it could dent their chances of landing the big trophies.
“I’d love to keep him and add more to it,” Wright told Sky Sports.
“With players like Sanchez, that’s how you’ll end up challenging for big trophies.”
02:45: Manchester City can sign Arsenal winger Alexis Sanchez ahead of Paris Saint-Germain despite offering the player a lesser wage than the Ligue 1 giants, reports say.
Express Sport understands Paris Saint-Germain are ready to launch a £35million bid now they have completed the signing of Neymar from Barcelona.
However, Manchester City are determined to bring him to the Etihad Stadium and reunite him with Pep Guardiola, who managed him at Barcelona.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has repeatedly insisted Sanchez will not be leaving this month - despite the fact his current deal expires in less than 12 months time.
But the Independent claim Manchester City feel they can land their No1 target.
00:10: Chelsea have reportedly made a £25million bid for Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Arsenal are expected to see a number of departures before the August 31 deadline.
The Daily Mail claim the Gunners are aware of Chelsea’s interest in the 23-year-old, but have rebuffed their offer.
Oxlade-Chamberlain, it is suggested, would slot in well into the west London outfit’s 3-4-3 system.
Antonio Conte is still looking to make more additions before the window closes on August 1.
22:00: Arsene Wenger has admitted he will look to offload a number of fringe players this summer as there's too much competitive for places.
After the match, Wenger said: ”To be honest it is too high... At some stage, too much competition is not competition anymore.
“You cannot give the chance to everybody, so if he finds a satisfying solution at least for a short time, he will do it."
20.00: Arsenal could be set to turn their attention back to Riyad Mahrez - after Roma pulled the plug on a move for the Leicester star.
Mahrez has been viewed as a back up option for Thomas Lemar by Arsenal but they looked to be losing out to Roma.
But Roma have today pulled out of the race for the Algeria ace.
And with the Lemar deal dragging, and reports the move would collapse if Kylian Mbappe seals a move away from Monaco, Arsenal could return for Mahrez, according to the Sun.
Arsene Wenger has spoken publicly about Mahrez in the past and hinted a move was possible in June.
"We have not made a bid, but personally, I like the player, yes," Wenger told beIN Sports. "I think he made a huge impact when they won the championship.
"Like at everybody else at Leicester, this season has been more challenging, but it doesn't take away from his qualities.”
19.22: Arsenal face the prospect of missing out on Thomas Lemar this summer - if Kylian Mbappe seals his exit from Monaco.
Lemar is Arsenal’s number one target following the club record signing of Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon.
The Gunners have already seen two bids rejected for the winger but are preparing another.
However Monaco will shut up shop for the summer should they sell Mbappe, who is wanted by Real Madrid, Manchester City, Barcelona and PSG, according to the Sun.
16.35: Alexis Sanchez will leave Arsenal before the transfer window ends, according to pundit Danny Mills.
"I think Arsenal might struggle this season, that is in the caveat that I believe Sanchez will go," he said on Sky Sports News.
"He clearly wants to leave, he only wants a year left. Do you keep a really unhappy player?"
13.50: Arsene Wenger is wrong if he thinks he can keep Alexis Sanchez at Arsenal long term, according to Martin Keown.
“Wenger is probably hoping he can somehow win the Premier League and keep Sanchez," Keown said at the FA and McDonald’s Community Awards.
"Meet his needs from a trophy point of view and find some way to match his contract demands – but I don’t see that happening.”
Keown instead thinks it is a foregone conclusion Sanchez will leave, but he does not expect the South American to down tools while under contract.
"I don’t think Sanchez is the kind of player to shut up shop, he signed a contract in good faith," he added.
12:40: Arsene Wenger has refused to sell Alexis Sanchez despite members of the Arsenal board being open to letting him leave.
The Evening Standard say senior figures at the Emirates were considering the prospect of selling Sanchez if a bid over £50million was made.
But Wenger demanded Sanchez stay even if it means losing him on a free transfer next summer.
11:41: Arsenal could have signed Mario Lemina from Juventus this summer - but Arsene Wenger decided against the move.
Lemina has been linked with a host of Premier League sides during the transfer window, including West Ham, Stoke and Watford.
But Southampton appear to have now won the race with the 23-year-old passing a medical ahead of an £18m switch.
And according to the London Evening Standard, Wenger was responsible for blocking his potential arrival at Arsenal.
How might the Arsenal starting XI look with Thomas Lemar?
10:26: Virgil van Dijk is understood to prefer a move to Liverpool, where he would play under Jurgen Klopp.
But The Times say Chelsea and Arsenal hope that Southampton could still refuse to sell their captain to Liverpool because of the whole tapping up situation.
Antonio Conte and Arsene Wenger are both set to play three centre-backs this season and are interested in Premier League-proven Van Dijk.
09:34: Thierry Henry is excited about Arsenal's attacking options following the arrival of Alexandre Lacazette.
He told Sky Sports: "[Lacazette] has a different game to Giroud, which I think is good because you need different types of strikers.
"It's ironic when you think about it that Giroud starts for France and Lacazette is his sub, and it looks at club level like Giroud will be the sub. I don't know if that's ever happened in the history of the game!
"He did it in the French league and people might say it's a different league but, with due respect to Lyon, he'll also be with better players. I'm backing him to have a good season.
"But that rotation will be key. Sometimes you'll need Giroud or even [Alexis] Sanchez in the middle and sometimes you'll need [Danny] Welbeck or [Theo] Walcott, whoever will have an impact.
"You're waiting on Lacazette to have an impact with the fee, I know you shouldn't mention that, but that's how it is nowadays.
"I'm a big fan of him. I saw him playing for a long time in the French league and in the youth team. He was always a talent that everyone was waiting for him to grow into, and to be fair he did, he's been scoring goals every season."
08:05: Lucas Vazquez has reportedly told friends he will leave Real Madrid if he is benched for today's Super Cup clash with Manchester United.
Spanish outlet Don Balon claim the 26-year-old is not happy with his standing in the Real team and feels he has not been given a fair opportunity in pre-season.
And with a host of Europe's top clubs said to be circling, the Spain international has reportedly issued Real an ultimatum.
In the Premier League, Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle United are all said to be showing an interest in Vazquez.
Who are Arsenal most likely to sign this summer, according to Football Whispers?
23:46: Arsenal will need to sell players before they can buy any more this summer.
The Gunners have signed Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac in this transfer window and also want Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.
But Sky Sports claim they must offload players first.
They have 33 players in their squad and Arsene Wenger must trim the numbers.
Lucas Perez is already set to leave, with Jack Wilshere, Carl Jenkinson, Calum Chambers and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all linked with moves away.
21:10: Monaco are now more willing to sell Arsenal target Thomas Lemar than they were earlier this summer.
The signing of winger Rachid Ghezzal today on a free transfer from Lyon adds further to suggestions Lemar is on his way out of the club.
Sheth said: "We are told today Arsenal are now not in active talks with Monaco over the player. But it should be noted they have not entirely ended their interest.
"Monaco's stance has changed from their vice president saying he was not for sale two weeks ago, to their coach not guaranteeing he would be at the club come the end of the window."
17:49: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has got Arsenal fans worried by ‘liking’ a comment on Instagram suggesting he is on the verge of joining Liverpool.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has just one year left on his contract at the Emirates and has been linked with Liverpool and Chelsea.
But the Blues could be set to miss out on the 23-year-old judging by his latest social media activity, with Oxlade-Chamberlain liking a comment that read: “Unlucky mate… he’s joining Liverpool FC”.
13:10: Arsenal chances of signing Thomas Lemar have taken a significant knock.
The Gunners made three separate approaches for the talented French international, but Monaco are refusing to sell.
Sky Sports now claim that Barcelona are rivalling Arsenal for the player's signature, and will use some of the £199million they received for Neymar to complete the deal.
12:30: Arsene Wenger should let Steve Bould manage Arsenal in the Europa League this season, according to Paul Merson.
"People talk about Arsenal in the Europa League, maybe suggesting they won't bother trying in it," Merson told Sky Sports.
"But Arsene Wenger still has to fly out somewhere on the Wednesday, won't get back until the Friday. It is still tiring.
"Therefore, I would tell Steve Bould to be in charge of the Europa team. Wenger could work at home with the Premier League team."
11:45: Danny Welbeck is enjoying the competition for places at Arsenal.
Arsene Wenger has a wealth of attacking talent at his disposal with Alexandre Lacazette, Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott, Alexis Sanchez, Alex Iwobi and Mesut Ozil all fighting for a starting berth.
And former Manchester United forward Welbeck believes that can only be a good thing for all those involved.
He said: "It's nice to be playing with Lacazette, with the competition for the forward line now, it's a healthy debate for the manager to have and I think everyone's looking forward to the new season.
"There's always ways to improve and we will obviously sit back and analyse this game, where we were good and where we were bad and hopefully we can improve our performances and keep on getting better and better."
