Xbox One X price: Struggles ahead against PlayStation 4 and Xbox One S?
While still rival devices, the PS4 Pro helped show how a premium-priced console could still have a big impact on the market.
Without exclusive titles and relying on the boosted power it provides, Sony say they have been left pleased with the impact the Pro has made.
Set to become the most powerful console on the market, the Xbox One X price is seen as the thing that could hold it back.
The Xbox One X is another console that will not have exclusive titles, but that won’t be the thing that could cause headaches at Microsoft, according to Pachter.
“I mean, I think that’s the easy answer. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One S are nominally are priced at $299 and they’re pretty regularly discounted to $249, and they are almost always bundled with something.
“You kind of have to be a moron to pay $299 for a console now and not get a piece of software for free which does have a perceived value of 50 bucks.”
“For $600 you can buy a PlayStation and an Xbox and get a piece of software for each for sure. I promise that. If you can’t get that I’ll give you the 50 bucks difference.
“For $600 you can buy both consoles and two games, and for $500 you can buy an Xbox One X and no games and if you want to buy two games, there’s an additional $100 cost added.”
So far, there is still very little to gauge just how well the Xbox One X will fare among gamers.
Xbox One X pre orders are still unavailable, with the console launching in November this year.
Something that can be seen as a boost for the upgraded console is that 16 per cent of US households now own a 4K TV.
According to research from the Consumer Technology Association, that’s up nine percentage points year-on-year.
With 4K such a big selling point with the Xbox One X, more households with the right specs could lead to better sales.
